This is from the Winter panel of Alphonse Mucha’s four seasons. To me it seems that she was smothering the bird, perhaps symbolizing winter’s association with death. Here I’ve given her an apple in her hand, in addition to the bird, because she reminds me of the evil step-mother from Snow White. Clearly she is up to something!
I love the way Mucha does his draping. I noticed that he often has it pinched in one location, making the fold lines lead the eye to that point. This helps create a good sense of movement within the composition.
